Dermal Fillers in Glasgow

What is Dermal Filler?

Dermal Fillers and lip fillers are a gel made from a natural substance called hyaluronic acid. They are commonly used to smooth out lines due to the loss of collagen/hyaluronic acid. These lines are usually present in the lower half of the face and, unlike the movement lines treated with Anti-Wrinkle Injections, don’t disappear at rest.

How long do dermal fillers take to work?

Results with fillers are immediate and improve over the following few weeks.

How long do dermal fillers last?

Individual results vary but in general dermal fillers last from 3-12 months. Many factors play a part including the filler used, the amount injected, the area treated and the individual themselves.

What brands of dermal filler do you use?

Unlike any other clinic, at Westerwood, we do not use one specific brand of filler but stock the 4 major brands (Juvederm, Restylane, Teosyl, Belotero) as well as other premium brands. This is because we believe there isn’t one company whose products are better than the rest. They all have certain products within their range that are better than others. We therefore choose the best of each range so you can truly have a tailored treatment.

Who carries out the dermal filler treatment?

We only have highly experienced locally trained aesthetic practitioners who work in aesthetics full time. This means you can rest assured knowing you are in safe hands. Indeed, our experts often have to carry out corrective treatment for clients who have had treatment elsewhere.

Is the procedure painful?

At Westerwood we take special care to ensure your treatments are not painful.  The Westerwood practitioners have worked in conjunction with an overseas laboratory to formulate a super strength cream which numbs the area meaning your treatment is not painful.

Will getting fillers make my face look puffy or my lips unnatural?

Certainly not. These results are due to erroneous patient or product selection or overfilling. At

Westerwood our experts take great care and attention in providing you with a natural result.

Can I take an allergic reaction to the filler?

We are probably Scotland’s busiest clinic and have never came across this. In fact, we have never heard of anyone having an allergy to any of the main filler brands. This is an unlikely occurrence as the main ingredient is Hyaluronic Acid which is already found in your skin. We do have Doctors on site and the equipment necessary to start to counteract any allergies.

What if I don’t like it?

Filler can be dissolved, following injection into the treated area, the product acts within minutes to dissolve unwanted filler and restore the original facial contours.
