Invisalign aligners moves teeth through a series of carefully controlled movements. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign treatment not only controls the amount of movement that each aligner delivers, but also timing each movement.

Invisalign aligners are custom made for each individual. At your initial consultation, a 3D digital image is taken of your teeth. This is used to create a custom treatment plan for you, and you will see how your teeth with gradually realign throughout the process. The aligners are made for you, and you will regularly replace them with a new one as you progress through your treatment plan.

Once we have completed your scans and the aligners are created, they will need to be well maintained to keep them in good condition. Fortunately, the maintenance process is fairly simple. The aligners should be removed when eating and drinking to prevent them from becoming stained or damaged. After you’ve eaten, clean the aligners gently with a toothbrush after each meal to ensure they remain clean. You should also regularly brush and floss after eating to prevent any food from being lodger in the aligners.

One of the main benefits of Invisalign is how little impact the treatment has on your life and your appearance. Apart from the small amount of maintenance required to keep them clean, and removing them when eating and drinking, wearing the aligners should have very little impact on your day-to-day life. They are almost invisible when wearing them and in many cases people will forget they are even wearing them. The aligners can also be removed for short periods of time if required, but they need to be in place for at least 20 hours per day to be effective.
